Chris Matthews threatens talk radio -- "Gonna pay" if any anti-Obama violence

Verne Strickland Blogmaster / September 19, 2012
2009 09 22 Hardball Matthew Matthews Warns Talk Radio Gonna Pay If Any Anti Obama Violence

Chris Matthews, on Tuesday“Hardball,” ominously warned that the “activists on the radio,” are “gonna pay,” if “we have violence in this country against our president of any form,” for having “encouraged the craziness.” Matthews made that charge in a segment, with NBC News’ Chuck Todd and the Politico, that began by the MSNBC host wondering if the GOP was “jumping the shark,” with “these crazy town meetings,” and declared “the clown show is over.”

Matthews continues to disparage town hall protests

The following exchange was aired on the September 22 edition of “Hardball”:

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Let me ask you about the Republicans. I noticed a little pullback on the, have they failed, are they feeling they’re jumping the shark, to use a television term, with these crazy town meetings?

Have they felt, I saw the Eric Cantor meeting in Virginia the other day, he’s a smart guy. He wants to be president or whatever, some day. He’s smart enough to know, is he – I’m asking – that it’s time to cool it? That this crazy anti-government talk isn’t improving any body’s life. The clown show is over.

It’s better now to look like you’re at least hopeful of getting a better health care plan for the country, even if you vote against it. Is that the Republican assessment right now? Based upon our polling?

  1. It amazes me how Mr. Matthews, a reasonably intelligent man can ignore the many accumulated reasons for the town & teabaggers meetings. The past 6 months of Obama policies that have placed our country in unprecedented debt; have not improved our economy; unemployment higher than ever; 8400 earmarks (paybacks) for a bizarre stimulus; obvious financial catering to unions (more payback); Cap & Trade, Death Tax,..even Coca Cola. all NEW taxes; no COL increase for Soc. Sec. this year; Govt takeover of Auto. mfgs. (another precedent); an 1100 page Healthcare bill unread by Obama & many of his proponents; the obvious repetitive lies by the White House (47 mill. uninsured; reduction or no increase in present Govt. costs; keep same Dr.; no change to you ….OBVIOUS LIES). Then we have the assortment of Czars, past communists, left radicals, tax cheats,
the Chicago fiasco with Obama's chief of staff in the middle. Current ACORN expose..OBAMAs past and only employer! The on going simple birth certificate request…"just show the original document"!
Additionally, our President and his "apologetic" foreign policy speeches and the recent missle defense change, exposing our NATO allies to an increasing Russian threat. No one had to prompt these meetings! If the news media, and all the networks would have performed their duties accurately,
the townhall and teabaggers would have been much larger! This would include Mr. Matthews!

We must stop this president and we must ensure that leadership in Raleigh is setting policy to help our veterans get the WORK, EDUCATION and CARE that veterans have earned and that they desperately need.
Now is the time to go to work for Pat McCrory for Governor and Mitt Romney for President…This isn’t about political parties, it is about AMERICA!
Read down for the WHAT, HOW, and WHY and let your voice be heard. Join the thousands of Veterans across the state of North Carolina that want to see a restoration of conservative principles in both Raleigh and in Washington!

Veterans for McCrory and NC Veterans for Romney are grassroots efforts to mobilize our friends and family that have served and bring them into the political process…REGARDLESS OF THEIR PARTY.
HOW:
IF you or someone you know is a veteran we need you to do FIVE THINGS:

5. GET OUT THE VOTE: Are you registered to vote? You can do it all at early voting locations, and please please bring a friend!
WHY:
President Obama’s budget will hurt us in two ways:
1. Budget cuts will weaken our national defense and gut local units.
2. Cuts will hurt veterans’ services and veteran owned businesses here in North Carolina.
***NC may lose 35,000 jobs under President Obama’s budget and sequestration’s cuts.
What will that do to our National defense or our VA care?
What will that do to local businesses and an already HIGH UNEMPLOYMENT RATE?
Onwards to Victory!
I remain Semper Fidelis,
Ilario

First Mitt (yikes) and now Barack (hooraw) sample some crow pie. But this time it's payback!

NOW WE KNOW BHO IS A SOCIALIST!

The Huffington Post  |  By Posted: Updated: 09/18/2012 5:30 pm

It turns out Mitt Romney isn’t the only presidential candidate to have a video leak this week.
Fresh on the heels of Romney’s leaked campaign fundraising video, in which the Republican candidate calls 47 percent of Americans "dependent on government" since they don’t pay federal income taxes, a recording from a purported 1998 Loyola University appearance by President Barack Obama has been posted to YouTube.

The sentiments revealed in the more than decade-old Obama video, however, are far different those Romney expressed at a Florida fundraiser this May. Referring to efforts to restore the efficacy of government, then-Illinois state Sen. Obama said:

“The trick is figuring out how do we structure government systems that pool resources and hence facilitate some [wealth] redistribution -- because I actually believe in redistribution, at least at a certain level to make sure that everybody’s got a shot.”
A request for comment to confirm the authenticity of the leaked Loyola video was not immediately returned by the Obama campaign.

During his 2008 presidential campaign, some 10 years later, it seemed Obama's stance on redistribution had changed little. He garnered Republican criticism when he told an Ohio campaign audience, “When you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”

Obama now may be more wary of such language. Earlier this year when the president pushed for the Buffett Rule, a plan that would have raised taxes on the wealthy, he maintained such a tax increase was not designed to redistribute wealth but to spur investment in the U.S. economy.

Many conservatives applaud Mitt's 47% statement. It was no secret!

I thought what Romney said was wonderful. I wish he'd put it into a commercial. He should make it a part of his stump speech. For too long we have shrunk from saying the Emperor has no clothes. A naked Barack Obama is what we need to see. Romney speaks the truth, and the truth will set him free from this dirty little "secret". Out with it. Thanks for your courage Governor!
LEAVE THE WELFARE PROFESSIONALS BEHIND. THEY'RE A LOST CAUSE. OBAMA HAS BOUGHT THEM. WIN THE UNDECIDED VOTE. THAT'S OUR LAST BEST HOPE FOR VICTORY!

Romney 47 Percent
By KEN THOMAS 09/17/12 11:14 PM ET AP
COSTA MESA, Calif. -- Republican Mitt Romney says a video clip in which he said that nearly half of Americans think they are "victims" was "not elegantly stated." But he says President Barack Obama's approach is "attractive to people who are not paying taxes."

Romney spoke to reporters Monday evening in a hastily called news conference after the emergence of a video in which the GOP presidential nominee told donors that almost half of American voters "believe that they are victims."

The Republican nominee did not disavow the comments but said they were made during a question-and-answer session. He said it was indicative of his campaign's effort to "focus on the people in the middle."

The website of the magazine Mother Jones posted a video of Romney's comments from a private fundraiser.

Congresswoman Renee Ellmers, who defeated longtime incumbent Bob Etheridge in North Carolina's 2nd Congressional District two years ago, is coming to southeastern North Carolina today (Monday, Sept. 17).  Congresswoman Ellmers will be the guest speaker at two events to benefit my campa
ign:

Please join us at one of these events!  The cost to attend each event is only $20 per person, and sponsorship opportunities are available.  Click the links below to pre-register online. If you would like to pay at the door, please reply to this email and RSVP. If you have not already pre-paid, you can pay at the door (personal checks or cash).

There are a few things you should know about Congresswoman Ellmers.  Prior to being elected to Congress, she worked as a nurse and served as the clinical director of the Trinity Wound Care Center in Dunn.  Additionally, her husband is a physician.

Based in no small part on her background and insight as a healthcare professional, Renee decided to run for Congress after the passage of ObamaCare.  From her campaign website:  "In 2009 she and her husband attended a Town Hall meeting to hear Congressman Bob Etheridge speak on behalf of President Obama’s health care plan. Later, as a volunteer, she became an outspoken critic of government-run health care and decided to run for Congress in 2010."

I hope to see you today!

Sincerely,

Frank Williams

Robeson Republicans need more room -- and more respect!

Verne Strickland Blogmaster / September 16, 2012

 By Dr. Phillip Stephens

We’ve all heard it. Robeson Republicans met in a phone booth. But times change.

According to a Jan. 23, 1956, The Robesonian article, six local Republicans attended a fundraiser in Winston-Salem for President Eisenhower. They were referred to as the “Phone Booth Boys.” The reason was simple.

Local Republicans sought a meeting place at the county courthouse about 60 years ago. As a joke, the county manager, W.D. Reynolds, offered them the phone booth, which in his opinion would hold the expected turnout. The joke stuck.

Today things are different for clear reasons. Republicans have been playing to full houses lately supported by conservative Democrats.

Gubernatorial candidate Pat McCrory recently visited Lumberton for a fundraiser. The local money raised and crowds addressed by Republicans like McCrory have been unprecedented in recent years.

Robeson led the state in approving Amendment One with 86 percent of the vote. That percentage is not obtained in Robeson without a lot of Democratic support. And it’s a Republican issue because the Democratic Party supports same-sex marriage so strongly it was added this year by unanimous vote to the party platform.

And if more evidence is needed, look no further than the public backlash against discretionary fund spending. The only commissioners voting to immediately cut the fund and return the remainder to the general budget are Republican David Edge and a Democratic commissioner in a tight race with a Republican.

Finally, Republicans are impacting management philosophy beyond the concept of a phone booth.
It has been said there would have been no Reagan without Carter. Well, in that context change has certainly come to Robeson just as Obama promised. Sunday voting is simply an acknowledgement of this turning tide. Maybe even a last-ditch effort. It also is a risky proposition.

Church congregations across the county were the reason that Robeson led the state in protecting marriage. Not Republicans. Not Democrats.

So although the Democratic Party values issues contrary to these congregations, such as abortion and same-sex marriage, Sunday is the day they chose to remind folks to vote Democrat.

Maybe it’s a brilliant idea, like buying a high-priced kitchen gadget, which requires a live presentation to justify the hard sale. It works.

Either way, conservatives will use the Sunday voting issue to further illustrate the growing contrast between conservative congregations and the Democratic Party. How different is the Democratic Party today?
Well, the DNC platform committee recently removed the word “God” in the context of “God-given potential” from the party platform.

It passed a floor vote. Some recognized that God probably didn’t need to be removed. But it would require a two-thirds majority vote to reverse the decision. The vote to reverse the decision was far short of two-thirds but the chair passed it anyway. So although “God” was restored to the Democratic platform, it was restored amid boos from delegates. This isn’t our father’s Democratic Party anymore.

But social issues and platforms will not decide the election. The economy will. And honestly, Republicans would be better off to not concentrate so much on the social issues. To be fair, if you’re going to be the party of less intrusive government then why intrude in private lives?

So while Democrats try to paint Republicans as religious zealots and bigots — which is odd if you understand the history of both parties but that’s another story — Democrats are quietly moving away from their traditional roots. Clearly, local Democrats have started supporting Republicans who represent the traditional values Democrats once championed.

Georgia Democratic Sen. Zell Miller said it best. He never left the Democratic Party. The party left him.

Things always seem to change slowly in Robeson, so maybe that’s the point. Robeson Democrats are the same great folks they’ve always been and it’s not local Democrats who are changing. They aren’t leaving the party. Slowly, their party is leaving them as well.

As a result, Republicans have outgrown the phone booth.

Verne Strickland interviews Andy Yates on Romney/Obama, McCrory/Dalton, radical Muslim turmoil in Middle East

By Verne Strickland  September 16, 2011

We bring in one of our all-time favorite conservative political pundits – Andy Yates of Huntersville NC – for an exclusive USA DOT COM interview.

ANDY YATES:
A new Rasmussen Poll shows Romney in front 51-45 in NC. This is a very strong sign. Only 50% go to the polls, and less than are 3% undecided, so NC broke for the Romney side. This indicates that Demo convention in Charlotte had little effect on what happens in NC. You can come here and have your big party but actually get hurt in NC. The Democrats wanted to show how liberal they are in NC,  but that doesn’t play well here. This actually is a plus for conservatives here because it’s a good side-by-side comparison of the two parties. Also it brings out into the open what the feelings of the voters are on a local level, compared to what the national Democrat Party stands for.

This isn’t the Democrat Party of Sam Ervin, it’s the Democrat Party of the extreme liberal Far Left and I don’t think anything could highlight that more to North Carolinians than holding their convention in our State where they try to take God out of the platform and then rejected three times to put God back in, and the chair finally ruled that it passed, and I think it shows how out of touch the national Democrat Party is with North Carolina values. I think that’s going to hurt them dearly.

What about the riveting and treacherous events roiling the Middle East?

Obama seems totally out of touch with the traumatic happenings in the Arab World. What’s your take on how this will affect him? It is sad and shocking how unprepared and weak our president is in light of this current crisis. He looks like an  eighth Algebra I student having to take a college Calculus course. HE doesn’t seem to have a clue what’s going on and acts like he’s frozen in place. It goes back to Jimmy Carter in the 70s – it’s not just the economy now, it’s foreign policy.

Jimmy Carter actually collected Obama recently on Obama’s traditional role with Egypt. Obama doesn’t even seem at the Carter level on foreign policy, which is very scary. What’s going on over there is very scary, and that’s made worse by our having a weak president who seems inept and bumbling. It shows that the 4-year Barack Obama apology tour has had little effect on the positives of the Middle East.

Finally, Andy, give us your take on the McCrory/Dalton race for Governor.

I don’t want people to quit working, because anything can happen at this point in the election campaigns, but in my opinion you could stick a fork in Walter Dalton and take him out of the oven – he’s done. McCrory has just out-classed him, out-campaigned him, out-worked him, Barring something totally unforeseen, I don’t see any chance at this point for a Walton Dalton victory. We’re about seven weeks to go before the election and with a 24-hour news cycle that’s a lot longer than it used to be.

Pat McCrory has done an excellent job of putting out a positive message about his vision for what he wants to do in North Carolina. He’s showing people his record of leadership as Mayor of Charlotte, whereas all Walter Dalton can give you is a rehash of the failed policies of Beverly Perdue. Dalton has no new original ideas, and is not impressing anyone.

We are seeing what people in the Charlotte area have known for a long time – Pat McCrory is a true leader who will get things done, he’s a visionary, and I think too that all Walter Dalton could be is a second term for Beverly Perdue, and there are very few people in North Carolina who would want  that.

 QUESTION TO PONDER:

COULD OBAMA BE LETTING THE ARAB CRISIS GO OFF THE RAILS TO ABSORB THE HEADLINES AND DIVERT ATTENTION FROM THE JOBS AND ECONOMIC FAILURES OF HIS ADMINISTRATION?
