Frank Williams inducted into NCGOP Hall of Fame; Helms, Sandifer honored.

November 29, 2011

Dear Friends:
On November 19, 2011 I had the honor of being inducted into the NCGOP Hall of Fame.  Below are a press release that was sent out about the induction and a photo from the event.
Sincerely,
Frank Williams

TEXT OF PRESS RELEASE:

LELAND, N.C. – Brunswick County resident Frank Williams, who has served as Chairman of the N.C. 7th Congressional District Republican Party since 2009, was inducted into the N.C. Republican Party Hall of Fame at a dinner in Cary on November 19, 2011.

The award was presented by State Representative Frank Iler, who was honored with the award in 2009.

One person from each Congressional district was inducted.  Williams was one of five nominees from the 7th District, and the winner  was selected by a committee appointed by the NCGOP State Chairman.

In addition, the late David Sandifer, who served as Chairman of the Brunswick County Board of Commissioners until his passing in 2008, was among the nominees for the John P. East Memorial Award, which recognizes a deceased individual who otherwise meets the requirements for the Hall of Fame.  The late Senator Jesse Helms was honored with the East award at this year’s ceremony.
In addition to his service as 7th District Chairman, Williams has served as a precinct chair, Young Republican club chairman, Young Republican state chairman and has volunteered or worked on numerous campaigns.
“I had the opportunity to get to know Frank Williams through his work managing my campaigns for State Auditor in 2004 and 2008,” said former N.C. State Auditor Les Merritt, whose fiscal conservatism earned him the nickname ‘The Taxpayers’ Watchdog.’

“Frank is committed to our party's conservative principles, and he is willing to stand up for what he believes in.  The fact that he has been inducted into the Hall of Fame shows that true conservatives have real influence in our party.  I am pleased to see his years of hard work recognized in this way," Merritt commented.
““Frank Williams volunteered on his first campaign in 1992, and he has consistently worked in the trenches supporting conservative candidates for nearly two decades,” added NCGOP Vice Chairman Wayne King.

“Frank has been a tireless worker for conservative principles and common-sense government, and I am pleased that his commitment and dedication have earned him recognition in the N.C. Republican Party Hall of Fame,” King said.
“The 7th District had four other nominees who were more than deserving of this award, and I am humbled that selection committee saw fit to choose me,” said Williams.  “There are countless people who contribute to the conservative movement in a variety of ways, and everything we accomplish is truly a grassroots team effort.”
The N.C. Republican Party Hall of Fame recognizes individuals who have been actively involved in the Republican Party for at least ten years.

Frank Williams interviewed at Pantano for Congress event: 'Voters want a new congressman'.

By Verne Strickland / August 15, 2011

Frank Williams, retiring chairman of the NCGOP Seventh District, was on hand at the Pantano for Congress office grand opening this past week-end, joining over 300 energized conservatives on hand for the event.

We interviewed him at the gathering for USA DOT COM:

"I think there was a great crowd, and it shows that people are interested in making a change next year by putting a new congressman in. There were people from as far away as Fayetteville here today, which I think is impressive.

You know, our conservatives didn’t give up when we didn’t prevail in 2010, and we put the district on the map in that campaign in a race no one thought was winnable at the beginning of the year. We started the job, but it’s not done yet.

VS: With reconfigured congressional districts, what is Ilario going to face?

He does have a primary, and certainly David Rouzer is a formidable candidate. I’ve known David since college, and I think we have two candidates from different ends of the district with different backgrounds. I think either one of them would make a better congressman than the Democrat.

VS: You have announced that you will not run again for District Seven GOP Chair, and will be spending more time with your Pioneer Strategies business. How is that going?

That’s going well, thanks, and I’ll also be spending plenty of time running for Brunswick County commissioner.

The Pantano for Congress Volunteer Office is situated at 8207 Market Street in the Porters Neck Shopping Center. Office hours are weekdays from 12-6 pm.

McIntyre against Brunswick County deep water port.

Proponents see profit in big storage facility in Robeson.

Editorial in robesonian.com  8 days ago.

Robeson County and Lumberton are among more than a dozen local governments in Southeastern North Carolina that are pushing for a state study to determine the pluses and minuses of a deep-water port in Brunswick County.

But this cash-strapped state has not provided the funding for such as study, which has given opponents, including our U.S. representative, an excuse to withhold support.

Economic development officials in this part of the state, including Robeson County’s top guy, Greg Cummings, see a deep-water port delivering thousands of jobs where they are needed, and as far inland as this county, which has land and highway that could do more than hold the Earth together.

Cummings says Robeson County is ideal for large storage facilities where imported goods could be held in preparation for distribution.

But U.S. Rep. Mike McIntyre, whose District 7 includes Robeson and Brunswick counties, is not a fan of the port. He says the General Assembly’s decision last year to withhold funding for the study amounts to a death knell for the project by making it impossible to secure the required billions of dollars in federal funds. But McIntrye’s own comments betray his true position."

The congressman said: “Several concerns have been raised which have not been fully answered about the location and cost of the proposed terminal, the harm it could pose to our national security interests near our country’s major munitions terminal at Sunny Point and beside a nuclear plant, the lack of necessary infrastructure with roads and rails, and the potential for irreparable harm to the local communities and environment — all of this at a cost to taxpayers of several billion dollars."

All those points are potentially valid, but they only point to a need for the study, and not a scrapping of the project. This nation’s future is increasingly at the mercy of the growing global economy, and economically distressed Southeastern North Carolina needs to scratch for every crumb on the plate. A deep-water port in Brunswick County potentially could lead a renaissance of this region’s economy.

We understand the difficulties of this state’s economy, which led to some hard and unpopular cuts, particularly to education, when the General Assembly crafted the current budget. But we also know that those who don’t carefully plot an economic future will soon enough be living in the past.

There are plenty of questions about the potential of a deep-water port in Brunswick County. Not answering them only ensures they will keep getting asked.

Frank Williams running for Brunswick County Commissioner in 2012. Seeks lower taxes, better business climate.

Verne Strickland Blogmaster / August 3, 2011

 WILLIAMS IS SMALL BUSINESS OWNER, FORMER NC DISTRICT 7 GOP CHAIRMAN

LELAND, N.C. – Brunswick County small business owner and community leader Frank Williams, a conservative Republican, announced his candidacy today for the District 5 Brunswick County Board of Commissioners’ seat currently held by Bill Sue. Commissioner Sue recently told the Wilmington Star-News and other media outlets that he will not seek re-election in 2012.

“Over the past two months a number of people throughout Brunswick County have encouraged me to run for County Commissioner next year, and after prayerful consideration I have decided to enter the race,” says Williams.  “Brunswick County has experienced tremendous growth over the past decade, and that proves we have a good thing going.  It is critical that we exercise the common sense conservative leadership required to preserve the very reasons we choose to call Brunswick County home.

“As a county commissioner, my priorities will include keeping taxes low for our families and small businesses, creating a climate in which small businesses and entrepreneurs can grow, prosper and create jobs in Brunswick County, and ensuring that county government makes wise, efficient use of our citizens’ tax dollars,” Williams added.  “I look forward to the upcoming campaign and am excited about the opportunity to meet with Brunswick County’s residents, hear their concerns, answer their questions and earn their support.”

Frank Williams grew up in the northern Brunswick County community of Northwest and is a 1988 graduate of North Brunswick High School.  His first leadership role came as a teenager, when he served as a Patrol Leader in Leland’s Boy Scout Troop 265.  He attended North Carolina State University in Raleigh, where he earned a B.A. in Communication.

Williams owns and operates Pioneer Strategies, a marketing and public relations firm he founded ten years ago.  He serves on the boards of directors of Communities in Schools of Brunswick County, the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce and the Leland Area Rotary Club.

Williams also serves on the Brunswick Community College Small Business Center Advisory Committee and chaired the Boy Scouts’ 2010 and 2011 fundraising breakfasts in Leland.  He is a member of the National Rifle Association.

Williams has served as Chairman of the N.C. 7th Congressional District Republican Party since 2009 and recently announced that he will not seek re-election to the post.  He is a member of Northside Baptist Church.

Republican Campaign Websites

Frank Williams’ firm, Pioneer Strategies, is available to develop a campaign website and comprehensive online presence for your campaign.
The Internet Matters
The Internet has become an increasingly important campaign tool.  People of all ages now look to the Internet as their primary source of news and information, and social networking sites like Facebook have revolutionized political communication.  Facebook now has over 500,000,000 subscribers.  In fact, if Facebook were a country it would have the third largest population on the planet – larger than the United States.  According to a recent Pew Research report, people over the age of 50 now comprise the fastest growing group of Facebook users.  The message is clear:  ignore the Internet at your own peril.
Campaign Veterans
Pioneer Strategies was founded in 2001 by Frank Williams, a longtime Republican activist and 1993 graduate of the N.C. State University Department of Communication.  Frank has held leadership roles in numerous Republican campaigns, including serving as Central N.C. Field Director for Dole-Kemp ’96, Political Director for Fred Smith for N.C. Senate in 2002 and Campaign Manager for Les Merritt for State Auditor in 2004 and 2008.
Loyal Republicans
Pioneer Strategies’ founder, Frank Williams, has served the Republican Party at all levels, from volunteering on his first campaign in 1992 to serving as a precinct chair, Young Republican chair, congressional district chair and attending a Republican National Convention as an alternate delegate.  Frank’s experience as a campaign veteran and public relations professional has taught him that your online presence must be an integral part of your overall campaign strategy, not a mere afterthought.  His experience as a longtime conservative activist has shown him the importance and value of a strong online presence as part of your grassroots outreach effort.
Experienced Communication Professionals
Pioneer Strategies was founded in 2001, and we have worked with more than 90 clients throughout North Carolina.  We have designed websites and managed social media presences and private e-mail lists for a number of Republican campaigns, including Les Merritt for State Auditor, Grey Mills for N.C. House, Frank Iler for N.C. House and Beth Dawson for N.C. House.
From a Satisfied Client
“Pioneer Strategies has worked with me on several political endeavors and also on a professional basis as a business consultant. Frank Williams and his team always provide outstanding results with limited resources. They are one of those precious few who under-promise and then over-deliver.”
- Former N.C. State Auditor Les Merritt

Frank Williams announces he will not seek re-election as NC7th District GOP Chairman

Verne Strickland Blogmaster: PERSONAL THOUGHTS

Frank: You may be succeeded -- but not replaced! During the years that you have been at the helm of the Seventh District GOP, you have been a beacon of superb leadership and dedicated loyalty. You are inspiring, always cheerful, and a blessing to all GOP faithful in the Seventh District. (And the Democrats' worst nightmare!) Please know that I will count on being in close touch with you, and will actively seek to assist you in your future endeavors. God bless you richly, my friend. You have done noble work. Verne.

June 5, 2011

It has been an honor and privilege to serve as 7th District GOP Chairman for the past two years.  Together we have achieved a number of important things, including:

  • Bringing the N.C. Republican Party Convention to Wilmington (I was proud to make the motion at the NCGOP Central Committee meeting to bring the convention to our area);
  • Conducting numerous trainings to equip our members to be more effective activists;
  • Giving Congressman Mike McIntyre the fight of his political life (so far) in a district that has not been represented by a Republican in well over a century (but we’re not done yet…);
  • Electing four Republican State Senators (Thom Goolsby, Bill Rabon, Brent Jackson, Wesley Meredith) in districts previously held by Democrats;
  • Electing Republican House members in Robeson County (G.L. Pridgen) and Duplin County (Jimmy Dixon);
  • Electing Robeson County’s first Republican County Commissioner since the Civil War (David Edge); and
  • Electing Jon David as the District Attorney in Brunswick, Columbus and Bladen Counties.
We have accomplished a great deal over the past two years, and I have enjoyed working with dedicated activists and conservative leaders from all across the district.  By far, the most rewarding part of this job has been getting to know so many of you.

With that said, after a great deal of reflection over the past two months I have decided not to seek re-election as chairman of whatever congressional district I am in after the legislature completes the redistricting process.

Moving Forward
Over the next few months I plan to dedicate additional time to building my business, which will be 10 years old in a couple of months.  Additionally, I will be installed as President of the Leland Area Rotary Club on June 30 -- a responsibility I take very seriously.

The fact that I have chosen not to seek re-election as district chair does not mean that I am going away.  I absolutely plan to remain engaged in the political process, the Republican Party and the conservative movement.  Over the next few months I will prayerfully consider how I can most effectively participate and contribute to the conservative movement going forward.

Transition
It is my plan to complete my term, provided that the redistricting process allows district conventions to be held within the reasonably near future.  I will also work with the new district leadership (in both districts, if the district is split as some maps have indicated) to ensure a smooth transition.

Keeping In Touch
As I said earlier, the most rewarding part of this job has been getting to know so many of you.  I would like to keep in touch with as many of you as possible, and technology provides a tremendous means of doing so.  If you would like to keep in touch with me, there are a couple of ways you can do so:
Again, it has been an honor and privilege to serve as your 7th District Chairman for the past two years.  We have accomplished a great deal, and I look forward to working with you regardless of what position (if any) I hold.

Sincerely,
Frank Williams
