PEACE, PERFECT PEACE: CFCC remembers student murdered downtown by four black thugs. It's a deplorable, senseless mess, people

 PEACE, PERFECT PEACE . . .

This lovely, pastoral scene, sent in by talented, patriotic
American Janice Shreiner, seems entirely out of place in a
story like this. It reminds us that -- behind every heinous
act ever committed -- there is beauty and hope under God.

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Cape Fear Community College hosted an open forum today in memory of Josh Proutey.

The forum allowed students and faculty to remember and honor Proutey. The college also provided counseling with those grieving the loss of a fellow student.

"I think initially it was time for the college to step up and offer our sympathies and really engage itself with our student body to see if there was a need emotionally," CFCC Athletic Director Robert McGee.

Proutey was shot and killed December 14 outside the Community Arts Center in downtown Wilmington.

THIS IS TEXT OF AN EXCELLENT COMMENT ON THE POST, THE ALLEGED MURDERERS AND INNOCENT VICTIM JOSH PROUTEY:

If this would have been four white, thug, monsters, slaughtering a innocent, hard-working, young, black, man, then taking his sandwich, and buying gas, with his mere $10, YOU would be marching throughout the country, in a 'Million Hoodie March', waving your fist, and demanding more "Hate-Crimes Laws".

Where is Jesse Jackson, and all the 'Diversity' people, on this one ? As always, Dead Silence. Sure, Jesus wants us to love everyone, and we must. But Jesus demands we stand against evil.

MORE DETAILS ON SENSELESS MURDER OF WHITE CFCC STUDENT JOSH PROUTIE:

Four suspects charged with the murder of a Cape Fear Community College student will have to wait a little while longer to have their day in court.

According to the New Hanover County District Attorney's Office the cases of Christopher Daniel Cromartie Jr., 23, Daniel Edward Henry, 17, Jasmine Nikole Dottin, 19, and Quintel Grady, 22, have been continued. All the cases are headed to a grand jury.

The four suspects are charged with felony first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, attempted burglary and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection with the murder of Joshua Proutey in December. Dottin also had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for failing to appear on an unspecified charge.

Cromartie, Dottin and Grady are all being held without bond and could face the death penalty. Because Henry is a minor, he is being held under a $2 million bond and faces a maximum of life without parole.

PERSONAL COMMENTS BY FORUM EDITOR VERNE STRICKLAND ON THIS TRAGIC MURDER CASE:

This is not a picture of a black man associated with murder of Josh Proutie

I expect, welcome and encourage any comments on this entire incident. No, it's not the guns which should be blamed in unprovoked murder cases like this. It's the mentality, senseless and cruel actions of the murderers, total lack of respect for life shown by the four black young people charged in connection with this cruel, unprovoked slaughter of Josh Proutie recently  outside Community Arts Center in downtown Wilmington.

By all accounts, young Proutie was a decent and law-abiding citizen peacefully going about his business when he was singled out by gun-wielding thugs, and senselessly killed -- an act which should draw the maximum sentence as this shocking case works its way through our courts.

Sure the parents and family of the assailants are sorry about it all. Of course the attackers at this time are beginning to "feel sorry" about this purposeless killing. They should have plenty of time to feel concern for their own hides as they hear the steel door on their jail cells clang shut, sealing them away from law-abiding society in our great city.

Perhaps this violent romp and its aftermath will give something of a warning to others in Wilmington who feel that murder at gunpoint will be overlooked, or punished as a minor infraction.

They will know now, as they join a population largely made up of young black lawbreakers, that the consequences are harsh. And that, we hope, may make others like them to think twice before killing other citizens of the City of Wilmington.

This is a racial story only because the alleged killers are black, and their victim white. This is more and more the situation in capital murder cases here in the Port City. Perhaps more attention to where we're going wrong will reduce the frequency of such disasters in Wilmington. We hope and pray so.

Lance Armstrong has decided to come clean, so to speak. Since the big dope’s life is essentially ruined, he’s apparently going to admit it all and ask for forgiveness. And who better to give it to him that Oprah? She’s got him on January 17 from 9 to 10:30pm on the hard to find OWN channel. Good for her. It used to be that celebrities went to Larry King or Barbara Walters when they needed to eat crow publicly and return to the world.

But for this generation it’s Oprah. Lance will cry, his eyes will  well up when he talks about his kids, he’ll show Oprah his scars from various surgeries, and recommend a healing expert in Nepal which she’ll put on her next Best Things list.

Will she grant him absolution? I hope not. But Armstrong has nothing to lose–he’s lost everything. He deceived the world for years, and kept lying about it. He had plenty of chances to explain himself. I don’t care if he came from a broken home, was beaten with a bat, or made to wash the dishes. Maybe this will be the last time we’ll have to hear from him.
We will wait for the usual clips, leaks, and advance bites.

PS Apparently the Showtime show, “60 Minutes Sports” is also headlining a tremendous piece by Scott Pelley. Check it out at CBSNews.com

At the bottom of our so-called fiscal cliff are foreign countries, mostly Muslim, raking in U.S. taxpayer dough. via Obama Increased Foreign Aid 80%; Spent 76% More on Foreign Aid Than Border Security | CNS News. h/t Free Republic reader cutty

(CNSNews.com) – From fiscal 2008 to fiscal 2011, according to the U.S. Treasury, the federal government increased spending on foreign aid by 80 percent and, in fiscal 2011, spent 76 percent more on foreign aid than it did securing the borders of the United States.
In fiscal 2008, the government spent a total of $11.427 billion in international assistance programs, according to the Monthly Treasury Statement. In fiscal 2011, according to the statement, it spent $20.599 billion—an increase of $9.172 billion, or 80 percent, from 2008.
Prior to President Obama taking office, international assistance spending had been trending down for three years, according to the Treasury. In fiscal 2005, it was $14.787 billion. In fiscal 2006, it dropped to $13.914 billion. In fiscal 2007, it dropped again to $12.764 billion. And, in fiscal 2008, it dropped yet again to $11.427 billion.
Since 2008, international assistance spending has increased each year. In fiscal 2009, it climbed to $14.827 billion. In fiscal 2010, it jumped to $20.038 billion. And, in fiscal 2011, it climbed again to $20.599 billion.
By the end of August, after the first eleven months of fiscal 2012, the federal government had already spent $20.058 on foreign aid in that fiscal year. That was well ahead of the $18.439 billion the federal government had spent on foreign aid through August of last year. The Treasury has not yet published the final amount that was spent on foreign aid in fiscal 2012, which ended on Sunday.
While foreign aid spending has climbed over the past four years, spending on border security peaked in fiscal 2009 and has since declined. In fiscal 2008, the federal government spent $9.984 billion on customs and border protection, according to the Monthly Treasury Statement. In fiscal 2009, that increased to $12.122 billion. But, in fiscal 2010, that dropped to $11.376 billion. In fiscal 2011, it increased slightly to $11.698 billion—still less than the $12.122 billion spent on customs and border protection in fiscal 2009.
Through August of fiscal 2012, spending on customs and border protection was $11.259 billion, ahead of the $10.656 billion on customs and border protection spent through August of fiscal 2011.
The $20.599 billion spent on foreign aid last year was 76 percent more than the $11.698 billion spent on customs and border protection.
Back in 2009 we told you that Obama was giving Billions to our Enemies.

FBI: More people killed with hammers, clubs each year than rifles!

According to the FBI annual crime statistics, the number of murders committed annually with hammers and clubs far outnumbers the number of murders committed with a rifle.

This is an interesting fact, particularly amid the Democrats' feverish push to ban many different rifles, ostensibly to keep us safe of course.

However, it appears the zeal of Sens. like Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Joe Manchin (D-WV) is misdirected. For in looking at the FBI numbers from 2005 to 2011, the number of murders by hammers and clubs consistently exceeds the number of murders committed with a rifle.

Think about it: In 2005, the number of murders committed with a rifle was 445, while the number of murders committed with hammers and clubs was 605. In 2006, the number of murders committed with a rifle was 438, while the number of murders committed with hammers and clubs was 618.

And so the list goes, with the actual numbers changing somewhat from year to year, yet the fact that more people are killed with blunt objects each year remains constant.
For example, in 2011, there was 323 murders committed with a rifle but 496 murders committed with hammers and clubs.

While the FBI makes is clear that some of the "murder by rifle" numbers could be adjusted up slightly, when you take into account murders with non-categorized types of guns, it does not change the fact that their annual reports consistently show more lives are taken each year with these blunt objects than are taken with Feinstein's dreaded rifle.

Another interesting fact: According to the FBI, nearly twice as many people are killed by hands and fists each year than are killed by murderers who use rifles.

The bottom line: A rifle ban is as illogical as it is unconstitutional. We face far greater danger from individuals armed with carpenters' tools and a caveman's stick.

And it seems fairly obvious that if more people had a gun, less people would be inclined to try to hit them in the head with a hammer.
