  • Verne Strickland Oh come now, friends. Don't you know that not only rednecks like me grew up on deep fried foods, but also most people of color? That could make you a bigot. It's a Southern tradition! This big noise you're making is just a bit feigned, wouldn't you say? Now I'm with you on the Democratic Party and unions, but fried foods do not belong on the same menu. Agreed? So why offend your Southern neighbors?

  • Verne Strickland Dear Laurie: I talked with God about this fried food thing. He said "Stop being stupid." Yes, Lord. "And stop acting childish." I understand, Lord. "And apologize to the people you have offended by being overly-sensitive." No problem, Lord.
"Well do it now!" Yes, Lord. Laurie and all my friends who make fun of fried foods, I'm sorry. I will stop acting childish and stupid. "And just stick to what's important." Thank you, Lord. "And use those talents I gave you to glorify my Name and the Kingdom." I will, Lord. "Okay. I'll see you sometime soon." Whenever you call, Lord. Praise your name. I like my job. And I love you. In Jesus' Holy Name, Amen.

Two more stimulus-backed solar companies announce layoffs. Thanks Mr. Precedent.

A pair of foreign-owned solar companies that benefited from a combined $84 million in Energy Department tax credits have announced they will lay off employees.

One of the companies, German-owned SolarWorld, was integral in the fight for tariffs against the importation of Chinese photovoltaic solar panels. The other, Chinese company SunTech, blamed those tariffs for its own layoffs.

Both companies benefited from the Energy Department’s stimulus-funded Advanced Energy Manufacturing (48C) Tax Credit. The 48C credit is worth up to 30% of the cost of manufacturing qualifying green energy projects.

SolarWorld received a credit worth $82 million, while SunTech’s was worth $2.1 million.

Both companies announced this week that they will shed some employees. SolarWorld, which announced a 47% revenue decline in the third quarter, blamed a potential 37 layoffs at its Oregon plant on “illegal” Chinese trade practices.

SunTech said the U.S. International Trade Commission’s 35.95% tariff on Chinese solar panels was partially responsible for the 50 impending layoffs at its Arizona production facilities.

While heavy Chinese subsidies do reduce the cost of solar panels from that country, Heritage’s Derek Scissors warned against replicating those policies in testimony before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee in June.

“The U.S. boasts a far better energy and environmental record than China,” Scissors explained, “and moving in China’s direction would be very risky.”

SunTech and SolarWorld are the latest additions to a long list of taxpayer-backed green energy companies that have gone bankrupt, laid off workers, or otherwise hit dire financial straits.

Chatter -- CIA Director, Ambassador Stevens Murdered, Obama, Rice, talking points censored, Petraeus, Hearings, Boehner, King's office, McCain.

  • Verne Strickland  November 16, 2012

More

Betty J Cole
  • questions everybody is already asking right now. I’ve been hearing it all morning and afternoon now. WHY was it changed? WHO changed it?

UM: Who would have the authority to do that? To alter the CIA Director’s assessment, right?

RI: Exactly – exactly. Who could do that? Has to be high up. Administration. And whoever did that, how…who would do that without the president’s stamp? Without his approval? Now I was…I heard from a staffer…they said it was the campaign. The campaign reviewed it and changed it and sent Rice out onto the Sunday news shows. That sounds…well, it’s outrageous. But…it…all of the campaigning the president was doing…has been…he’s been at it for over two years. The campaing has always been his priority. So…so maybe that’s possible. Now that’s not a minor point here. If national security…the death of an ambassador and three other Americans…now if that…(inaudible)…so if there was a decision from the campaign, then…well…I’ll say it. That could be cause for impeachment. The president would be in violation of his oath. At least it’s how I understand it.

UM: Impeachment? Is that really possible?

RI: Don’t use…don’t latch onto that term. I’m not saying it’s likely or even possible. I don’t have all the specifics of exactly what went on in the hearing. I can tell you the place is buzzing. I can tell you there are staffers…King’s office…they are really getting pretty fired up on this. They needed Petraeus to give them something and apparently that’s what the general did. Oh! And over at…ummm…McCain. He’s fired up about this too. He did not like being called out by the president the other day. So maybe he’s going to…you know the Senate…they always take so long and the Republicans up there…(inaudible) so cautious. But (inaudible) …and so maybe we are seeing some real momentum on this. The Feinstein office has sent out feelers too. Staffers talking amongst themselves. This is all good news for those of us who want to see some real accountability for what happened, but…I want to stress again that…that you can’t get your hopes up. These people…it’s not that they don’t care…(inaudible)…bad people. It’s just how it works. If someone gets spooked, or a deal can be made, that’s what happens. I don’t like it, but I have to work in reality and not how I wish things were. You get that?

UM: Yeah – I understand that better than I used to. Understood.

RI: Here is…umm…there is something you can do. Your readers can do…everyone you know of. If people want to possibly change the outcome…or the discussion…they have to use this new media to do it. You have to understand that the Obama White House has hundreds of people…all they do is post and comment and try to push their version. They…what it is…it’s a whole program to either direct the news coverage, or give media the excuse that they are just reporting on…or reflecting the public opinion. So what we need to do…(inaudible)…of what I already talked about. We need to get ahead of this new media thing…all of us. Republicans. Conservatives…whatever. Congressman Paul talked about it the other day…he was right about that. 100%. So everyone needs to go out there and post their comments. Make the media know we are more…ummm…we are paying attention now. And so…they need to cover what…the stories that we are commenting on. Use basic economics on them. Just go all out and overwhelm the comments sections of these stories. Share the truth. And demand…demand more of the truth. And demand that they start…they need to ask this White House real questions now. Can you do that? Can they do that? Petraeus gave us an opportunity – now we need all of your help.

UM: I’ll do my best. Just like you – can’t promise anything. But you’re right…people are…after the election they were pissed. Now they’re…I think they’re ready to fight again. So, we’ll do our best.

RI: If everyone gets on the same page with this…after today…we’ll see how the weekend news programs go…next week we might really crack this thing open.

UM: Could Boehner…will he shut it down? I don’t trust him anymore.

RI: (Pause) …I don’t like to talk poorly about another Republican…

    UM: But…

RI: (Pause)…but ummm…you might be right on that one. He’s not…hasn’t been…reliable for us. Hoping he’ll surprise us..but yeah…hope for the best. Prepare for the worst.

    END CONVERSATION

UNABLE TO POST COMMENT (warning on my attempt to post)

VS: Oh? I think a more accurate statement would be UNWILLING TO POST COMMENT. Are we being censored over criticism of Gandi and the Arabs -- or because of our confession of Jesus Christ as our Savior? Weird? I don't mind showing disrespect for Gandi's "legacy". He truly was a ruthless old radical who was propped up by leftist propaganda in the U.S. media. But I lovingly claim Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Let the games begin.

McCain slams in fierce counterattack: Obama 'is incompetent or corrupt.'

Verne Strickland Blogmaster, November 15, 2012

Posted on 15 November, 2012 by Amy

Sen. John McCain launched a fierce counterattack on Barack Obama yesterday after Obama arrogantly called McCain’s criticism of U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice “outrageous” and said critics of Rice should “go after me.”

McCain, speaking on the Senate floor, went straight for the jugular:

“This president — this administration — has either been guilty of colossal incompetence or been engaged in a coverup, neither of which is acceptable to the American people. I speak as a friend of Christopher Stevens, I speak as a person who knows something about warfare, I speak as something of an authority — that this attack could have been prevented if the information on the ground had been taken into consideration.”
McCain wants a congressional Select Committee to investigate what happened in Benghazi and how the Obama Administration reacted. Paraphrasing Senator Howard Baker of Tennessee during the Watergate investigation, he said bluntly:

"There clearly is a need because there is a huge credibility gap among the American people because of the [contradictory statements about the attacks] beginning with the President of the United States. What did the president know? When did he know about it? And what did he do about it?"
McCain then reminded Obama that although he is the president, he is not the king:

"He really does not have any idea of how serious this issue is. I’m a United States Senator. We have our responsibilities, we have our duties, and we are not picking on anyone here."

And McCain connected the dots by noting that whatever Rice said, her marching orders came from upstairs:
Those talking points did not come from the CIA, they came from the White House. Who at the White House gave her those talking points?

The court is in brief recess.

Obama might do well not to cross a man who’s survived more serious issues than a verbal attack.

2012 election will have impact on U.S. Cotton Belt. NC watches.

Verne Strickland Blogmaster / November 15, 2012

Nov. 15, 2012 9:21am From the National Cotton Council

Cotton Harvester

The Senate Agriculture, Nutrition & Forestry Committee will continue to be chaired by Sen. Stabenow (D-Mich.), who won re-election in Michigan and the House Agriculture Committee will continue to be chaired by Rep. Lucas (R-Okla.).

The election did not change which party controls the White House, the House or the Senate, but there are changes in the composition of the 113thCongress that will affect the Cotton Belt and key committees.
As of Nov. 9, Republicans retained control of the House, 234 to 193, with eight races still too close to call. Prior to the election, Republicans held control by 240-190, and there were five vacancies.

Several of the “too close to call” contests are in key cotton districts including the North Carolina 7thDistrict where incumbent Rep. McIntyre (D), a senior member of the Agriculture Committee, leads challenger State Sen. Rouzer (R), former agricultural assistant to Sen. Helms, by fewer than 500 votes.

In North Carolina’s 8thDistrict, Republican Hudson defeated incumbent Rep. Kissell (D).
In the newly consolidated 3rddistrict of Louisiana, two incumbent Republican Reps. — Boustany (45 percent) and Landry (30 percent) — will face each other in a runoff.
In the 4thDistrict of Arkansas, Republican Cotton was elected to fill the seat vacated by the retirement of Rep. Ross (D).

In Arizona’s 2nddistrict, Republican challenger McSally holds a narrow lead over incumbent Rep. Barber (D) who is serving the remainder of former Rep. Giffords (D) term. In California, incumbent Republican Reps. Bono-Mack (District 36) and Lungren (District 7) are trailing in races still too close to call.

There will be a number of new members serving districts with significant cotton industry interests, particularly in North Carolina, Texas, Arizona and California where redistricting, the addition of new seats, retirements, and incumbent losses combined to significantly change the make-up of the delegations.

In Texas, where there was significant redistricting as a result of new districts being added, Rep. Canseco (R) was the only incumbent who failed to gain re-election though two members lost their primary bids. Weber (R) defeated former Rep. Lampson (D) for the District 14 seat vacated by Rep. Paul (R).

In California’s 1stDistrict, LaMalfa (R), a rice farmer, was elected to the seat vacated by Rep. Herger (R) while Valadao (R), a dairyman, was elected to a new seat (District 21) in the San Joaquin Valley.
All Cotton Belt Senators who sought re-election won handily including: Feinstein (D-Calif.), Nelson (D-Fla.), Wicker (R-Miss.), McCaskill (D-Mo.) and Corker (R-Tenn.). New Cotton Belt Senators are: Kaine (D-Va.), Flake (R-Ariz.), Cruz (R-Texas) and Heinrich (D-N.M.).

Democrats added to their majority in the Senate (55-45) assuming the two “Independents,” Sanders (Vt.) and King (Maine), caucus with the Democrats.

The Senate Agriculture, Nutrition & Forestry Committee will continue to be chaired by Sen. Stabenow (D-Mich.), who won re-election in Michigan and the House Agriculture Committee will continue to be chaired by Rep. Lucas (R-Okla.).

A summary of new House and Senate Members, along with a list of potential chairmen/ranking members of key House and Senate Committees, is at www.cotton.org/issues/2012/upload/12ElectionResults2.pdf.
The membership rosters of committees for the 113thCongress will not be final until early 2013.

Trailing in NC/7 vote, Rouzer joins Congressional class photo in DC

Verne Strickland / November 15, 2012

rouzerfrosh.jpg

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- He trails Rep. Mike McIntyre in the vote count, but David Rouzer was in Washington, DC, today for orientation for new members of Congress. The Republican even took part in a class photo of Congressional freshmen.

When asked about Rouzer taking part, his campaign spokeswoman said, "Tomorrow the results of the canvass will be certified, and we will go from there."

McIntyre leads by just a few hundred votes in the race for the 7th District House race. County Boards of Elections have been counting provisional and absentee ballots this week. All votes must be canvassed tomorrow.

Candidates involved in close, unresolved races are eligible to attend the Congressional training sessions.

New study (at Harvard, no less) confirms that liberals have lower IQ than conservatives!

Verne Strickland Blogmaster / November 15, 2012

08/10/2011 iahymnews

A new study conducted at Harvard University shows that in America, Liberals have a significantly lower IQ than Conservatives. The study was conducted on 100,000 registered voters in 40 different states over the last twelve years, and has concluded its results.

The first part of the study lists the correlation between political beliefs and intelligence. Subjects of the study were chosen at random and requested to come to an unmarked van to take a test and answer some questions for a reasonable amount of money.

Of the 100,000 people, there were people from many doctrines, from conservative to liberal to marxist to fascist. Socialists came out on bottom, with an average IQ of 87. The second worst were Liberals and then Marxists, with 88 and 89 respectively. Conservatives received an average score of 110, which is significantly above average. However, the conservatives did not score the highest. The holder of second place were Communists with an average I.Q of 115, and the first place was apolitical people who did not follow any specific doctrine, who received a whopping score on average of 135.

IAHYM News attempted to interview President Barack Obama on the new find, but he refused to speak directly. Instead, while walking down the strange hallway, he told correspondent Joseph Ducreux that the study was ridiculous and false, but failed to provide any reason as to why or how the science of the study is at fault. Hilary Rodham Clinton was also contacted, but immediately hung up
the phone when she figured out that the study was being mentioned at all.

Other parts of the study included the daily activities of the various people based on their doctrines. Apparently, Liberals are five times more likely to commit a crime, steal or cheat on a test than anybody else except for Socialists, 52% of which have committed a major felony while being watched. Conservatives not only did not commit any crimes, but they actually prevented them, as the few events where a Conservative was threatened by a thief or mugger was hindered by a concealed handgun.  Also, Communists are the most likely to commit rape or sexual assault, second to socialists.

The study was conducted in other countries as well, where 81% of Muslim Extremists admitted to following the Liberal doctrine and idolizing President Barack Obama. The study was conducted by a group of roughly 900 different scientists across the country over the past twelve years, each one taking on a little over a hundred people per person.

Reporting from New York City, this is John Bowling.
