(CBS News) On "Chick-fil-A appreciation day," a day organized by
leading conservatives, Sarah Palin comes to the fast-food chain's
defense for "their support of traditional marriage."
Palin defended Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy for stating that the fast-food chain believes in "the biblical definition of the family unit."

"I am speaking up for him, and his First Amendment rights, and anybody else who would wish to express their not anti-gay people sentiment, but their support for traditional marriage, which President Obama and Joe Biden they both supported the exact same thing until just a few months ago when Obama had to flip flop to shore up the homosexual voter base," Palin said during an interview with Fox News Tuesday night.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee called for "Chick-fil-A appreciation day" after plans for protests and boycotts of the chicken sandwich chain emerged and after some mayors vowed to block the restaurant.

"Calling for that boycott has a chilling effect on our First Amendment rights," Palin said Tuesday, adding that Cathy was "basically getting crucified" over his comments.

"He merely voiced his personal opinion about supporting traditional definition of marriage. One boy, one girl, falling in love, getting married," she added.
