Spartanburg Public Safety Department reported that Gowdy was able to drive away from the incident. The incident happened about 8:10 p.m. at First Baptist Church Spartanburg, while Gowdy was waiting to pick up his daughter.
The woman, Gloria Brackett, 52, was arrested following the incident.
A press conference is scheduled for Monday morning with more information about the incident.
The Spartanburg Public Safety Department is investigating.
